The theme of this outdoor,  site-specific exhibition was FIRE, Fuoco. Twenty artists came up with astoundingly different interpretations of one of the four elements. I used a hot iron to imprint a flower pattern on white linen. The seams of the second-hand garment I used when mounted on an iron hoop, revealed a peace sign. It had been a year since the war against Gazan civilians and the death count had risen to the tens of thousands. My piece, Pace Bruciata, or Burnt Piece, mirrored this devastation. Despite the grim subject, the process of ironing implies creating order out of the chaos. My piece hung from a tree against the evening sky, a moon-like globe offering hope and light. A better tomorrow.
