ControVento. Artists for Pasolini, Villa Guglielmi, Fiumicino (2022) curated by Sandro Polo
My installation,“Figlio bianco e vermiglio, figlio senza somiglio” 2022, bamboo, monotypes on hand painted non-woven fabric. Size varies-approximately 3,60m x 6 m. Each monotype has a width of 40 cm with various lengths of 80 to 120 cm. Inspired by Pierpaolo Pasolini's films, "Ricotta", and "The Gospel According to Matthew", I arranged montypes on bamboo ladders to symbolize stages of Christ's journey towards his crucifixion. Loss, death, transformation, and redemption are constant themes in my work. Pasolini overlaps chronology and cultures which is also present in the imagery that I use: cell phones, sneakers, laptops, and soccer balls fly through the sky with a universal message of detachment. The series re-elaborates a preceding exhibition, "Ascent", an autobiographical journey of loss, inspired by the Stations of the Cross. It connected very closely to a recurrent theme in Pasolini's films.
The show was curated by Sandro Polo on the 100 yr. anniversary of Pasolini's birth.
